We recently acquired this Mustang locally from an older woman who had purchased it from the man that restored the car and had owned it for some 25 plus years. The car has been in Missouri for those years and was an excellent original rust-free car to start with from the photos that are shown when the car was on a rotisserie during the restoration. This was a complete nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration with no details overlooked and everything including the mechanical parts were either rebuilt, restored, or replaced with new correct reproduction Ford parts. Everything fits exceptionally including the hood, doors, trunk lid, window glass, softop, bumpers, and all trim. All of the window glass is in excellent shape, all new soft top, weatherstripping, restored soft top frame, new carpeting, seat covers and foam, door panels, restored instruments, new emblems, new wiring, new radial tires mounted on original wheel covers, restored steel wheels, new lug studs, all rebuilt suspension and details, new fuel tank, new exhaust system, correct Ford hoses, rebuilt engine and drivetrain, and the list goes on.
The exterior paint was taken down to bare metal and a base coat clear coat finish has been applied, wet sanded and polished out extremely nice to a show like finish. Even on the lower rockers, front end below the bumper as well as the rear bumper have been restored just as nice as the top side of the hood as most restorations get those little areas overlooked. The window glas fits nice and tight and the soft top was installed correctly and is one of the nicest I have seen. Again I cannot stress enough how this car was restored with every attention to detail done. The finish on the door jambs, underside of the hood and trunk, inside of the trunk, all restored and not just oversprayed to cover up things. Everything works on the car including the heater, defroster, lights, horn, wipers, and the original am radio still functions. All wiring harnesses have also been replaced and all weatherstrip seals as well. This is a car you can get in and drive if desired with no issues and shown at any event and likely will win the class it is put in everytime.
A restoration of this caliber would easily cost you $50,000 plus today at most any shop and likely a two year plus wait to get it completed. You could not go buy a Mustang convertible and restore it to the level this one is in for what we are asking for it.
