Up for sale for the first time in 17 years is one of the rarest C5 model Corvettes ever made. The Fixed Roof Coupe (FRC). This was the first “Fixed Roof” Coupe since 1967. This was a model only offered in 1999 and 2000 as the 2001 model became the Z06 which most everyone has heard of but many were unaware of these earlier fixed coupe models. This example has only 32,157 actual miles and has been owned by a particular Senior owner for the past 17 years that was cared for like no other. It was only driven to local shows and car events. It has never been tracked but could be as that was the intention behind this lightweight Corvette model. The hardtop model includes the Z51 Performance Suspension, Z-Rated tires, 18-inch rear wheels and 6-speed manual transmission. Top speed on the test track is around 170 mph. This was and is a serious sports machine, right out of the box.
The Fixed Roof Model only was offered with a few options and all came with a black leather interior and a manual 6-speed transmission. They were not offered in any other way and were just offered in certain colors. This one is finished in Torch Red with black leather interior.
This Corvette has been locally owned for the past 17 years and was originally sold new at Albright Chevrolet INC in Kansas City Missouri.
The condition of this car is excellent. Very little wear showing on the interior and looks “AS NEW” condition. Non-smoker and the car was not driven in bad weather.
The paint shows well and looks like it rolled off of the the showroom floor. Everything works on the car and the wheels have been upgraded to the 2000-2004 style in a chrome plated finish. The tires are a set of Michelin Zero Pressure Pilot Sport A/S and were replaced several years ago but still are in good presentable shape.
The previous owner added the nice polished stainless steel Corsa Performance Exhaust System which gives the car a little more aggressive sound. He also added a few bolt-on accessories such as the nostalgic fuel rail covers, cold air intake, custom tail light covers, and a polished aluminum license plate frame. He protected the door sills with those clear plastic protectors and had clear floor mats over the original carpeted mats. All of these accessories can easily be removed if desired and the original air filter setup is included as well as the original painted aluminum wheels that came on the car when new.

The hardtop version was more similar to a convertible with a hardtop permanently bolted and bonded in place. It had the same external trunk as the convertible. The hardtop model had the highest chassis stiffness of all three Corvette models, some 12% stiffer than a coupe with targa in place. The hardtop was Corvette’s lightest model by about eighty pounds.
It is difficult to find one of these unmodified and in an original condition as this one.
Many of these hardtop models were turned into an Autocross car with roll cages, etc
As they made for a great track car.
I have seen these FRC models increase in value and believe they will continue to do so in the years to come as many do not even know what it is as they are rare.
