INTERESTING 1977 CORVETTE FACTS:
This was the last year for the straight back window. Leather seats were standard equipment. A new console held heater and air conditioning controls and accepted standard delco radios due to its increased depth. A new steering column positioned the steering wheel two inches closer to the instrument panel to provide more of an “arms out” driving position, and easier entry and exit. 1977 was the first year for the new leather wrapped steering wheel when tilt/telescopic was ordered. The alarm activator was moved to the drivers side door lock, instead of the driver side fender as previous years. The engine paint went from orange to blue in production. Cruise control required automatic transmission the head light dimmer and windshield wiper/washer controls were located on steering column stalks. The inside rear view mirror was moved from above the windshield to the windshield itself. L82 engines were 210 h.P. Only 2,060 m21 l82 corvettes were built in 1977 out of a total 49,213 units.
